Fake update: beware of this new scam

This scam, made by an update on Google, is said to have been detected since November 2022. However, it is said to have taken shape only since February 2023. When you browse certain websites, shortly after, the browser will offer you to proceed to an update. Under the name of “Windows Update”, you will be asked if you want to update immediately or if you prefer to do it later.

If you chose to do this search engine refresh, a Zip file can be downloaded. This same file harbors a dangerous virus that will install virtual currency software. This one is moreover undetectable by the least anti-virus. In the immediate future, you will still be able to use your browser, but this one will see its speed slowed down. After some time, your computer will suffer the consequences of the presence of this virus in its data.

The virus is available in a hundred different languages ​​and can therefore affect you wherever you are, as reported in the press release from the NTT (Japanese telecommunications company).
