Evening weather: 18 departments affected by stormy winds

This Monday, March 13 already, a violent storm raged through many territories throughout France. This day recorded a total of 9,549 lightning strikes in France, making it the most struck day for the month of March, as reported by La Chaîne Météo. The cause of this major bad weather is none other than a strong high-altitude jet stream that facilitated the digging of a depression off the Azores. This phenomenon took place last Saturday, and the depression in question has since risen towards the North Sea.

This morning of Tuesday March 14, the depression in question continued its trajectory through the English Channel. At the edge of the Atlantic, it can trigger gusts of up to 100 km / h, and up to 70 to 90 km / h inland. In Corsica, they can even reach 120 km/h! Around the Mediterranean basin, the Mistral, the Tramuntana and the westerly wind will contribute to the stormy atmosphere.

In the presence of weather conditions resembling a storm, it is advisable to be cautious, otherwise the consequences could prove to be very serious. According to the site of the fire brigade, it is important to take refuge in the enclosure of a permanent building if a very strong storm is raging.

In addition, it is advisable to store all outdoor furniture in a safe place, so that it does not get damaged or turn into a projectile tossed about by the wind and likely to do damage. From this evening, the very strong gusts will continue to rage in France. Find below the list of the 18 departments on orange storm alert.
