(Paris) Three application files for the organization of the 2028 and 2032 editions of the Euro football have been sent to UEFA, the body announced on Wednesday, with a duel confirmed for 2028 between Turkey on the one hand and an alliance between the United Kingdom and Ireland on the other.
Already announced in 2022, these applications have been confirmed by sending the files to the European Confederation.
Turkey is also a candidate for Euro-2032, facing Italy, reigning European champion.
The hosts for these two editions will be decided in October 2023 by a vote of the UEFA Executive Committee.
England already organized the Euro in 1996, while Italy hosted the 1968 and 1980 editions. Turkey never organized the event.
Russia, long interested in hosting one of these two editions, created a surprise by declaring its interest in March 2022, just days after the start of the invasion of Ukraine, sanctioned by UEFA. exclusion of Russian teams from its competitions.
The Russian candidacy files were finally deemed inadmissible by UEFA in May 2022.
