Since June 2021, products contaminated with ethylene oxide must be recalled in store. This was not always the case before this date: “the fault of a legal vagueness from which several European countries would have benefited”, explains the UFC Que Choisir.
On the shelves of supermarkets, there are hundreds of products every year whose ethylene oxide levels exceed the authorized standard. These are, most of the time, processed dishes.
Ethylene oxide is a carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic pesticide banned for use in Europe. Nevertheless, we still find residues in some of the products marketed in supermarkets.
Recently, this is the case of a dish of prepared noodles, which is the subject of a large-scale recall, indicates Rappel Conso. If you have recently purchased this product, beware!
