A legend of the French variety. Real name Gaston Ghrenassia, singer Enrico Macias has made his oriental influences vibrate in his most beautiful songs throughout his career. From his debut in 1962 with his hits Adieu mon pays, dedicated to his homeland Algeria, Enfants de tous pays without forgetting Les Filles de mon pays and Le Beggar de l’amour, he has accumulated distinctions and awards.
In parallel to his career as a singer, Enrico Macias distinguished himself in the cinema in the saga La Vérité si je mens (2002 and 2012), Coco (2009). But also in the series Family Business (2020) on Netflix, where he played his own role and gave the reply to Jonathan Cohen and Gérard Darmon. A career punctuated with success and hardships for the one who faced health concerns during the health crisis.
After contracting Covid last year, Enrico Macias was hospitalized following a fall that resulted in a fractured femoral neck. “I could have ended up paralyzed or even disappeared,” he confided to Soir Mag, adding with sadness. “These sixty days were nevertheless very difficult to live. I slept a lot, but badly, because I was woken up early in the morning for treatment (…) To be honest, I also experienced moments of strong depression”.
Despite his fragile health, trouble has followed for the famous artist victim of fraud as revealed by Le Parisien on December 7, 2021. According to our colleagues, an investigation was opened after the octogenarian filed a complaint last September, after having invested in an aesthetic center project without having been associated.
