Energy sobriety: the 6 measures to apply at home

The season promises to be tough for the French. This Thursday, October 6, 2022, the government of Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne indicated a series of rules to be respected as part of the sobriety plan. Households, businesses and all sectors of activity are invited to apply these new measures to combat the energy crisis.

The objective: to reduce consumption by 10% compared to 2019. All this in order to avoid forcing the French to spend the winter without heating or gas. To achieve this goal, the population is called upon to set an example at all levels by observing several actions to be taken to monitor their daily energy consumption.

“Energy sobriety is at the heart of our energy strategy, both long-term and short-term”, recalled the Minister for Energy Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher at the start of her speech at the Parc des Expositions in Paris, “in order to allow our country to get out of its dependence on fossil fuels”. In this action plan intended for all French people, the minister nevertheless specified that aid will be provided to low-income households with bonuses such as Ma Prime Renov. “We are not going to ask households already in a precarious situation to save money”.

Through a communication campaign entitled “Every gesture counts” to come in the coming days, the government invites citizens to be responsible by applying tips that will improve their daily lives. From heating to electricity or eco-responsibility, these solutions are to be followed with efficiency. Planet reveals six measures to apply at home now below in the slideshow.
