Saturday, April 1 was to mark the end of the systematic printing of receipts. The deadline for the entry into force of this measure is finally pushed back to the end of the summer, but the beginning of April remains synonymous with several changes. One of the dates to remember is April 14, the deadline for requesting reimbursement of the Navigo pass from Ile-de-France mobilities: don’t miss it! Indeed, you will be able to receive around 40 euros as compensation for network disruptions linked to the social movement.

The reimbursement to which you are entitled corresponds, for all Navigo subscribers, to half a month’s package. Additional compensation is made available to users of lines B and D of the RER, corresponding to almost an additional month reimbursed. The request in question can be made very quickly online. Like every year, April 1 also marks the end of the winter break.

The winter break, an annual period extending from November 1 to March 31, aims to protect people at risk of losing their housing or their access to electricity during the coldest months of the year . It is therefore forbidden to evict a tenant during the winter break, with a few rare exceptions.

This ban therefore ends on April 1, the date on which legal proceedings for unpaid rent, among other things, will be able to take their course again. The protection also applies to power outages for unpaid bills. This year, the beneficiaries of the energy voucher will nevertheless remain protected from the possibility of sudden power cuts, even after the end of the truce.

Another major change will take place on April 1: it concerns social benefits, crucial for the subsistence of many households in this period of runaway inflation.

On Wednesday March 22, the Minister of Solidarity Jean-Christophe Combe announced the revaluation of social benefits by an increase of 1.6%, the entry into force of which would take place on April 1. The RSA, family allowances and the activity bonus are among the benefits concerned. The amount of the increase is shocking: it remains well below the inflation rate over one year, even as prices continue to rise.

The cause behind the amount of this increase deemed insufficient? The taking into account of the exceptional revaluation of 4% which entered into force last summer, as reported by our colleagues from franceinfo. At the same time, a historic revaluation of unemployment benefits is also scheduled for April 1.

A notorious victory for the unions: the amounts of unemployment benefits will be increased by 1.9% on April 1 to come. Normally, only one annual revaluation was applied, on July 1. But in the inflationary context which pursues us, the vote was positive within the administrative council of Unédic, as reported by our colleagues from Figaro.

The Force Ouvrière union said in a statement: “This follows a collective initiative by trade union organizations which, in the face of galloping inflation and the decline in the purchasing power of job seekers, have asked and obtained this reassessment.”

Finally, the beginning of April will also mark the beginning of a period of obligations for some, of a varied nature.

Indeed, as every year the month of April is synonymous with income tax declaration. This mandatory process, the complexity of which many people fear, will however have to be carried out in the course of the coming month. For individuals having recourse to the postal sending of their documents, it will have to be done between April 6 and 25. As for the online declaration service, it will open on the 13th of the same month, and will be closed at a later date varying according to the departments.

Finally, the beginning of April will mark the entry into force of the mandatory energy audit before the sale of a property classified F or G in the energy performance diagnosis. The audit in question will propose a roadmap for the work to be carried out in order to improve the energy classification of the property, without however constituting any obligation of renovation for the owner. The potential buyer must have access to this document.
