A year ago, on April 24, 2022, Emmanuel Macron was re-elected President of the Republic. With 58.55% of the vote, he won against Marine Le Pen (41.45%) in the second round. This Monday, April 24, 2023 therefore marks the first anniversary of its second five-year term, the time to take stock of the start of the journey.

This first anniversary is not one: Emmanuel Macron has been president of the French for six years now. And yet his popularity rating has never been so low, according to TF1. Choosing to pass the difficult pension reform at the start of his second five-year term, Emmanuel Macron is celebrating a first year with mixed results. Popular anger is rumbling, the unions feel humiliated and the oppositions are calling for a strike on May 1, 2023.

While his last trips were made to the sound of pots, the president gave himself “100 days” to relaunch his presidency. He presented the major projects he wishes to implement in the next four years. On the program: work life pact, reform of vocational high schools, “republican and democratic order”, decongestion of emergencies…

“We have before us 100 days of appeasement, unity, ambition and action in the service of France”, recalls TF1. Before this second wind, the anniversary of April 24 is an opportunity to look back on the great moments of the first year of this second five-year term. Back in pictures in our slideshow below.
