Elon Musk, Tesla founder, criticized GoFundMe’s hypocrisy following a cease-and-desist letter from the fundraising site to a convoy anti-vaxx Canadian truckers.

Musk jokingly said “Double-standard?” on Twitter while sharing a screenshot from a June 2020 GoFundMe tweet in support of Seattle’s lawless and corrupt CHOP. This was a “autonomous” zone where riots broke out, and police were not allowed to enter.

He also called GoFundMe, “Professional Thieves.”

On Jan. 29, thousands of truckers from the “Freedom Convoy”, rolled into Ottawa, many of them honking and waving Canadian flags and banners.

GoFundMe prevented the release of nearly $10 million in donations earlier Friday in connection to “the promotion of violence & harassment” during the Ottawa protest.

GoFundMe stated that they now have evidence from law enforcement proving that the peaceful demonstration was now an occupation. They also received reports of violence and other illegal activity.

The Freedom Convoy site stated that donors have until February 19 to request a refund and that the remainder of the money raised by the group would be distributed to “credible, established charities”.
Facebook removed a Facebook page that was created by US truckers, who planned to ride from California and Washington DC in protest.
