Edmonds Kind Of 4th offers reserved parking for handicapped and parade viewing, as well as fireworks viewing

The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce announced today that there will be reserved parking for handicapped people and fireworks viewing for those with mobility problems.

Daytime events will have handicapped parking available at the Coastal Community Bank lot (123 – 3rd Ave. S.), from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. on July 4.

Greg Hoff, Windermere Edmonds at 210-5th Ave. S. has provided reserved handicapped parade viewing. The space will be available for reserved viewing, although viewers will need to bring their own blankets and chairs.

People with mobility problems can use the basketball court next to Edmonds Boys & Girls Club, Civic Field. The rest of the park is on an uneven field so it may not be accessible to those with mobility issues or in wheelchairs.

Everyone is invited to view the evening fireworks display at Civic Field, 598 Edmonds St. The show will be held from 3000 feet. Viewers can see over 900 fireworks directly above them.

At 10 p.m. the national anthem will begin to be sung. Then fireworks will light up the sky. Arrive early to park, then set up your chairs and enjoy a meal at one our local restaurants.

Here’s some information to remind you of the basics before you attend an Edmonds Kind 4th celebration Sunday.

1. You should not place your chairs along the parade route after 6 p.m. Saturday, July 3.

  • The Public Works Department will remove chairs and other items that were placed in the right of way along the parade route prior to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 3. You can retrieve them during regular business hours at The Public Works Building, 7110 -210th Street S.W. 425-771-0235
  • Avoid attaching chairs to one another or to stationary objects such as signs, trees, and sign posts by chaining them or other means. The chamber explains that this policy allows parade-goers to stake their viewing spots a little earlier than usual, but also to avoid safety and accessibility concerns from long sidewalk obstructions well before the Fourth.

2. Road closures will begin at 6 a.m. July 4th, so make sure you plan ahead for driving and parking.

3. The Beat Brackett 5K starts at 8 a.m. in City Park, and runs through Woodway.

  • The race day registration is closed. There is no option to register in person.
  • You must pick up race packets before July 4.

4. This year’s Children’s Parade is at noon.

5. Bring blankets and chairs to the fireworks display

  • Civic Playfield is not a place for alcohol, dogs, or fireworks.
  • The seating is located on the north side, just north of the skatepark.
  • You are prohibited from crossing the 500-foot-wide firework safety zone.
  • A hot dog cart, an ice cream cart and a light-up vendor are some of the limited vendors at Civic Playfield.

6. 6.

  • Violations of the ban on firework will result in additional enforcement and $500 fines.
  • Firework use is now more dangerous due to the recent heat wave and dry conditions.

7. This is Edmond’s biggest firework display ever. Don’t miss it.
