Rain and thunderstorms are finally back in most of France. Despite this, the drought persists and even worsens in several departments. Thus, the number of territories classified as “crisis” is increasing, and this could lead to significant water restrictions.

The “drought plan” put in place by the state has four levels of alerts, as reported by France Info, here is what they mean:

This is for example the case in the municipality of Seillans in the Var where, as reported by Capital, the mayor imposed water rationing at 150 liters per person per day.

According to data from the Ministry of Ecology as of August 12, 2022, 74 departments are now classified as “crisis” and other municipalities could well follow the example of Seillans. Find out which ones in our slideshow below.
