Winter 2023 was particularly dry. According to La Chaîne Météo, on French territory, the rainfall deficit was around 25%. Fortunately, in March, the trend was reversed and the rain made its big comeback in France, even offering a largely excess rainfall, which had not happened since November 2022.

Thus, while these rains may have allowed the water tables to be further filled, this is not the case for all regions and some are still affected by drought. For this reason, the government has placed several departments under water restrictions.
