(Las Vegas) Ivan Barbashev scored two goals, one of which put the Vegas Golden Knights ahead for good, and the Golden Knights overcame Leon Draisaitl’s four goals to beat the Edmonton Oilers 6 -4 in Game 1 of the second-round series on Wednesday night.
It’s the second night in a row that a team has won despite an opposing player scoring four goals.
Besides Barbashev, the Golden Knights also found the net through Chandler Stephenson, Michael Amadio, Mark Stone and Jack Eichel. Eichel’s goal went into an empty net, and he and Stone each delivered an assist. Zach Whitecloud added two assists.
Evan Bouchard, Mattias Ekholm, Zach Lyman and Connor McDavid each handed out two assists for the Oilers.
After Draisaitl scored on the power play less than two minutes into the third period to make it 3-3, the Golden Knights took the lead for good by scoring two goals in 50 seconds.
Game 2 is Saturday in Las Vegas.
