A last goodbye. Justine Vayrac, 20, will be buried on Friday November 4 in her village of Tauriac (Lot), almost two weeks after her disappearance in Brive-la-Gaillarde (Corrèze) during an evening in a nightclub. The death notice published in La Dépêche, quoted by France 3, gives some details: “The family and relatives of Justine VAYRAC inform you that the religious ceremony will take place on Friday November 4, 2022, at 10 a.m., in the church de Tauriac, followed by burial in the village cemetery”.

“A register of condolences is at your disposal at the town hall of Tauriac and at the funeral chamber of Saint-Céré”, adds the death notice, specifying that natural flowers will be the only ones accepted. As France 3 explains, the funeral of the young woman will take place in the strictest privacy since access will be forbidden to the press and the village will be cordoned off by the gendarmerie.

Justine Vayrac’s body was found on October 27, four days after her disappearance and a few hours after the confession of her alleged murderer, Lucas L., an acquaintance of hers. Aged 20, she was the mother of a two-and-a-half-year-old boy. Described as intelligent, cheerful and empathetic, the young woman went out once a month with her friends to a nightclub. According to relatives present with her, she would have explained on Saturday October 22 that she felt bad after drinking a few glasses of alcohol, then deciding to go to sleep in her car. That’s when she ran into Lucas L., who offered to stay by her side.

This 21-year-old man was indicted for rape, forcible confinement and murder and, according to the prosecution, he confessed “to having killed the victim when they were both at his home and they had just had a consensual sex”. Explanations questioned by the results of the autopsy: Justine was strangled and her face bore the mark of many blows. To investigators, the suspect explained that he had “punched him, which would have caused his death”. He then concealed his body in the forest using an “agricultural machine”.
