E. Coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella… There are many reasons for recalls and some products can be dangerous if consumed. Like all other players in the food products market, the Carrefour brand is not exempt from these procedures.
Indeed, the retail giant has a platform dedicated to this type of event. If these cases can sometimes make a lot of noise like Buitoni pizzas or Kinder chocolates a few months ago, it is for a completely different reason that Carrefour was recently pinned in the news.
Indeed, the Banque de France recently had to remind this retail group and its competitor Casino of their obligation to accept cash payments.
This recall comes as some supermarkets of the brands concerned had forced customers to pay for their shopping at automatic checkouts due to lack of staff. However, this did not allow them to pay in cash.
“We reminded the leaders of these two large groups that it was against the law,” said Christophe Baud-Berthier, director of fiduciary activities at the Banque de France on Wednesday, November 16. “This is the principle and it must be remembered: a merchant cannot refuse a payment in cash”, he continued unlike other means of payment, as recalled by BFMTV.
