Covid-19: what are the measures envisaged by the government in its preliminary bill?

All indicators are up. For several weeks, France has been facing an upsurge in the Covid-19 epidemic, which is reflected in an increase in the number of cases, hospitalizations and occupation of intensive care units.

In its latest epidemiological report, published on Thursday, June 23, 2022, the National Public Health Agency notes that the virus “continues to progress throughout metropolitan France, with an increase (…) while vaccination coverage for the booster doses remain notably insufficient”. An acceleration of the coronavirus partly caused by the spread of Omicron’s subvariants, BA.4 and BA.5.

Faced with the pandemic, the French government wishes to be able to continue to act beyond July 31, the date set to end the state of health emergency. In a draft law published by Atlantico and whose authenticity was confirmed to AFP by the Ministry of Health, the executive details several measures envisaged to stem the circulation of the virus. Check them out in our slideshow below.

This text, sent to the Council of State, must be discussed before being presented to the Council of Ministers. He also mentions the creation of a committee for monitoring and anticipating health risks, attached to the Ministries of Health and Research. His role ? Render “opinions on the health situation and the scientific knowledge relating thereto” and “formulate recommendations” in this sense.
