Covid-19: the departments where the hospital situation could get out of hand

It’s hard not to see the eighth wave sweeping across the country. The health crisis is far from behind us, contrary to what some Western leaders have been able to announce, and cases of contamination with the Covid-19 coronavirus are on the rise again in France. “The circulation of SARS-CoV-2 has accelerated throughout metropolitan France after a first week of more moderate increase”, wrote Public Health France, on the occasion of its regular assessment. The latter was published on September 22 and paints a portrait of the country over a week.

From now on, informs Liberation on its site, all age groups are affected by the epidemic recovery, which was first observed among the youngest. The resumption of prices was not without impact in this respect, but the rebound was then able to spread to the rest of the population. From now on, it is even the hospital which is affected since there are, on average, 417 daily admissions on September 22, 2022. The occupancy rate is up 15% over one week, which brings it down to 13 .6% nationwide, points out CovidTracker. Some departments are more at risk than others and could find it harder to manage an explosion of cases. More information on this subject in our slideshow, which you will find at the end of this article.

The health authorities, faced with the resumption of the health crisis, are obviously not standing idly by. However, we should not a priori expect any return of confinement or even of the curfew. The government, underline our colleagues, intends to be content with the only vaccine weapon and now encourages the use of “bivalent” vaccines, considered more effective against the variants. “Their clinical efficacy equivalent or even superior to that of the original monovalent vaccines”, thus specified the High Authority of Health.
