The Covid-19 epidemic is once again gaining ground in France. According to the latest epidemiological report from the National Public Health Agency, the virological indicators are exploding after several weeks of decline. The organization reports an “increasing incidence and positivity rate in the majority of regions” as well as a “less marked decrease in the hospitalization rate”. In some departments, the increase in the incidence rate is particularly significant, for example in Corrèze where it stands at 283 per 100,000 inhabitants (60.8% over seven days) or in Paris where it stands at 315 per 100,000 inhabitants (38.77% over seven days)*.

In addition, mortality is again on the rise in many departments, doubling in places. In our slideshow below, discover the ten departments where the evolution of the incidence rate of hospital deaths is equal to or greater than 100% over the last week compared to the previous week to June 9, 2022.

Quoted by Ouest France, infectious disease specialist Benjamin Davido is worried about this increase in figures: “The contamination remains on a high plateau, above 17,000 cases per day, which not only does not drop, but resumes. This means that we have an endemic situation which is continuing, that we are still in the presence of an enormous reservoir of contamination. We are far from the threshold of 5,000 which, at the start of the epidemic, had been set by Emmanuel Macron to trigger a deconfinement”.
