Covid-19: the departments that would suffer the most from a possible return of the vaccine pass

For two and a half years, the world and France have been living to the rhythm of waves of Covid-19 contamination. And after a relatively calm summer, it seems that the virus has decided to come back in force this fall. We are witnessing, in fact, in recent days, an increase in cases, especially among the youngest. The fault at the start of the school year, among others, comment on the specialists. This is the beginning of the eighth wave.

On September 22, 2022, the national incidence rate stood at 330 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a high figure and up 23% over one week.

According to Santé Publique France, 100% of the viruses sequenced at the beginning of September contained the Omicron variant.

The authorities are also warning about the probable emergence of new variants, which are increasingly resistant to vaccines.

Could the situation this fall become as critical as last year? Should we put the mask back on? Where to take out the vaccination pass? In some departments, the possible return of this last measure should be rather badly received: they are the least vaccinated in France. Discover them in our slideshow.

While contamination is increasing significantly, the National Public Health Agency calls for accelerated vaccination, and in particular the second booster, i.e. the fourth dose, for the most fragile.

In addition, the Scientific Council, in an opinion issued on July 19, argued that this recall campaign could be extended, from the fall, to those under 60.

For their part, several laboratories, including Pfizer and Moderna, have developed “new generation” vaccines, adapted to Omicron and its subvariants (including BA.4 and BA.5). They have been approved by several countries, and should hit the market by the start of winter.
