The Easter weekend is synonymous with family reunions. However, an unexpected guest could appear there: the Covid-19. Indeed, with the onset of spring, the number of cases is on the rise again. On March 29, 2023, a doctor was already alerting to the possibility of a tenth wave on the television news set of France 2. Damien Mascret, doctor and journalist, mentioned the possibility of a new saturation of hospitals.
“We are at 8,000 cases per day, we are far from the 62,000 that there had been during the last peak”, he mentioned. Nevertheless, the latter specified that we were only at the beginning of the future wave. “This gradual start is also explained because we have four times fewer people who are tested than during the last wave”, he adds then. Nevertheless, the figures for Covid-19 cases have since increased, confirming the words of Damien Mascret. Find out in our slideshow below if your department is affected by the increase in the number of cases.
If the number of positive cases stagnated at around 8,052 people as of March 31, 2023, the evolution of the incidence rate still indicates the arrival of this tenth wave. Santé Publique France is responsible for recording the trends of Covid-19 recorded by episode of waves. In prevention of a new wave, the site therefore reports the important figures linked to a new wave of Covid-19. Among them is the recorded incidence rate.
As a reminder, “in epidemiology, the incidence rate reports the number of new cases of a pathology observed during a given period”, as indicated by the INSEE definition. The evolution of this rate, as well as the positivity rate and mutations are also data recorded by the site. To simplify your research, we have decoded this data for you and identified the departments with the highest incidence rates.
