(Courchevel) The American Mikaela Shiffrin dominated the first round of the Courchevel slalom on Thursday, run at night and counting for the Alpine Skiing World Cup; as often, only the Slovakian Petra Vlhova seems able to tickle her in the second round.

Starting with bib 1, the American, five-time winner of the big crystal globe, achieved the best time in the first round of this slalom in the Savoyard resort. Vlhova is second at 17 hundredths.

The two skiers have outrageously dominated the slaloms for several seasons.

Behind, the Austrian Katharina Liensberger, third in the first round, is relegated to more than a second.

Round two is scheduled to begin at 8:45 p.m.
