Cold calling: the 6 types of numbers to be wary of

Mobile operator, energy supplier, gym… Companies of all kinds now practice cold calling. It is a popular method that allows companies to promote or sell their products or services.

However, this practice can be painful on a daily basis for the French. Many of them no longer want to receive these types of calls that make their cell phones ring sometimes every day.

This practice is therefore framed by French law in order to protect consumers from abuse, but also to be able to choose whether they wish to be the target of this type of call or not.

For example, since April 1, 2022, direct sellers are subject to new regulations. At the start of a call, they now have the obligation to ask for the customer’s explicit consent before continuing the conversation. If he refuses, they must then hang up and remove his data from their list.

Organizations have also been set up by the government with the aim of regulating cold calling and offering solutions to people who no longer wish to receive these calls on a daily basis. This is how the Bloctel platform was set up, allowing anyone who wants to register for free to stop receiving calls from canvassers.

However, this system has many flaws and some companies or other malicious people manage to slip through the cracks. Fortunately, the numbers of direct sellers can sometimes leave clues that are important to be able to spot.

Discover in our slideshow the list of the six types of numbers to be wary of.
