(Berea) Joe Flacco is officially with the Cleveland Browns. Even if he had already delivered the goods.

Flacco agreed to a one-year, $4.05 million deal – a pact with a host of performance bonuses – on Thursday with the Browns, who hired the veteran quarterback on an emergency basis last month after learning that they would be without their starting quarterback Deshaun Watson for the remainder of the campaign due to a right shoulder injury.

The deal means the 38-year-old’s name has been moved from the practice squad to the active roster. And although it is more of an administrative decision, it ensures that he will be part of the Browns (8-5) as they try to secure their place in the NFL playoffs.

The team had moved Flacco’s name from the practice squad to the active roster over the past two weeks so he could play against the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars.

While he was on the Browns practice squad, other teams in the Goodell circuit could have made him a contract offer. Flacco, however, indicated that he had not been made aware of such an approach for his services.

“I wouldn’t have followed through anyway,” he confided. It’s nice here. »
