Cirque du Soleil’s show on ice, Crystal, will be presented at the Bell Center from December 22 to 31, six years after its debut in Montreal. He first went through the Videotron Center in Quebec.
Nearly 2 million people in 18 countries have seen the work merging circus arts and figure skating since 2017.
Created by Shana Carroll and Sébastien Soldevila, co-founders of Les 7 Doigts, Crystal tells the story of a young girl struggling to find her place and looking for meaning in her life. Much like in Alice in Wonderland, Crystal passes through the ice of a frozen pond to take a long journey into an imaginary world. The 42nd Cirque production relies on projections on ice to bring this magical universe to life.
“Crystal pushes the boundaries of what is possible for circus arts and inspires audiences to experience magic in everyday life. The show is about the ability to change one’s perspective and see reality from a new perspective,” Robert Tannion, artistic director, said in a statement.
Tickets go on sale March 27.
On Tuesday, the Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières and Cirque du Soleil will unveil the poster and the official name of the show paying tribute to Guy Lafleur, which will be presented from July 19 to August 19, at the Cogeco Amphitheater.
