Churchgoers in Altadena Find Faith Through Community Service
In the wake of the devastating Eaton fire that ravaged the Altadena community, churchgoers at the Church of Christ in Pasadena have found solace and strength in their faith while grappling with the loss of their homes, belongings, and sense of security. The congregation, consisting of around 75 members, including 10 families who lost their homes, has banded together to support one another and the greater community in a time of need.

Brothers Kevin and Warner Anderson, long-time members of the church, faced the harrowing experience of waking up to the Eaton fire at their doorstep. Despite losing their home of 50 years, along with cherished heirlooms and memories, they found strength in their faith and the support of their church community. Kevin, a gardener, remains resilient in the face of adversity, determined to give back by volunteering at the church even as he grapples with personal loss and challenges in rebuilding his life.

Keith and Jenifer Gibbs, another couple from the congregation, share a similar story of loss and perseverance. Having raised their family in their now-destroyed home, they find solace in their grandchildren and in the unwavering support of their church community. Despite the trauma of the fire and the memories it evoked from Keith’s military service, they draw strength from each other and their faith, navigating the challenges of rebuilding their lives one step at a time.
