CF Montreal 2 – Vaughan Azzurri 0 | Changing the narrative, little by little

The road to success will be long and winding for CF Montreal. However, he managed to take a first step, however small, in this direction on Tuesday night in the Canadian Championship.

Hernán Losada’s men finally scored and took the measure of Vaughan Azzurri 2-0, at Saputo Stadium, to advance to the quarter-finals of the pan-Canadian tournament. They will travel to the Queen City in mid-May to take on Toronto FC.

Simply superior to their semi-professional rival, the Impact was in control of the game practically from start to finish. Maybe not totally, as he had a few moments of weakness that the visitors weren’t able to take advantage of.

In front of a sparse crowd, the Montrealers rattled the ropes twice in the first half and continued to attack after returning from the locker room.

But it is a performance on which the Bleu-blanc-noir can build. He controlled the tempo and created chances. The two Montreal attacking midfielders Sean Rea and Bryce Duke were incisive in the opposing third. The former even scored his first goal in a CFM uniform.

In their last three games in MLS, the Montreal XI lost by a cumulative score of 10-0. Without being a victory acquired against a rival of the Garber circuit, it allows to regain a bit of confidence before the visit of the New York Red Bulls on Saturday.
