Carolina Hurricanes | Justin Robidas agrees to a three-year contract

(Raleigh) Quebec forward Justin Robidas has agreed to a three-year rookie contract with the Carolina Hurricanes, team president and general manager Don Waddell announced in a statement Wednesday morning.

Robidas, 20, will pocket US$775,000 starting in 2023-24 if he plays with the Hurricanes on the Bettman Tour, and $80,000 with their American Hockey League academy. He will also get a $150,000 signing bonus.

“Justin demonstrated his offensive talent during his junior career, and he was instrumental with the Quebec Remparts in the QMJHL playoffs and the Memorial Cup tournament,” Waddell said. We can’t wait for him to continue his development to the next level. »

Robidas has scored 25 goals and 53 assists in 63 games with the Val-d’Or Foreurs and the Remparts this season. He also led the Cecchini circuit in terms of shorthanded assists (6) and ranked ninth for those on the power play (25).

The five-foot-eight, 176-pound hockey player also amassed 11 goals and 16 assists in 18 playoff games with the Remparts, who won the Gilles-Courteau Trophy and secured their place in the final of the Memorial Cup tournament — which will be played Sunday in Kamloops, B.C.

Robidas was selected in the fifth round, 147th overall, by the Hurricanes in the 2021 NHL Draft. His father, Stéphane, played 15 seasons in the league with the Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Dallas Ducks ‘Anaheim and the Toronto Maple Leafs between 1999 and 2015.
