For the occasion, Tom Cruise, who landed near the Croisette by helicopter, was honored by the Patrouille de France who flew over the entrance to the Cannes Film Festival on the occasion of the release of Top Gun. On stage, Suri Cruise’s father was presented with an honorary Palme d’Or.
“The money I earned from odd jobs, I was going to spend it on the cinema. It became the love of my life. I love theaters (…) I never want to take anything for granted. We all have a dream. My dream is the cinema. As a child, I already knew that I wanted to live a life of adventures, I always climbed the tallest trees,” he said confidently. At the same time, Tom Cruise also revealed an amazing anecdote about his childhood. “One day when I was 4 years old, I wanted to make my own parachute. I took the sheet from my bed, I climbed on the roof of my house… and I jumped. My face hit the ground. I saw stars in broad daylight. And I thought, ‘Oh no, my mother is going to kill me'”. This stuntman at heart will return to the big screen in 2023 in the sequel to the Mission: Impossible saga.
