The organization of Zurich Marató de Barcelona has announced this Friday that it is forced to cancel the edition of 2020 to be held on 25th October because of the health crisis of the COVID-19 , and anticipates that the editing 2021 will take place on 7 November.
“After studying the many options of a relentless, until the last moment, with local authorities and institutions competent health, is it unfeasible that the runners can live a magical experience in Barcelona , priority for the organization,” explain the organizers.
The Zurich Marató de Barcelona, whose start date was on the 14th of march and was postponed to October , is organized by the Barcelona city Council and managed by RPM-MKTG next to ASO. With the final cancellation is pursued to “ensure the health of the racers, public and organisers”.
“Well -that explains-, the priority of the organization has always been that the runners live a magical experience in the city of barcelona and the current circumstances don’t allow it”.
The editing of 2021 will be held on Sunday, November 7 , while the eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona, which traditionally takes place in the month of February, will be postponed to 17 October.
The participants that are already enrolled will have three options available for the management of its dorsal. The first, change the recording to the editing of 2021, with the possibility of running the eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona 2021 , free of charge; the second, a refund of 75% of the registration fee and a voluntary donation of 25% of solidarity with the expenses that has supported the organization, and the third the return of the total price of the registration.
