Sean Monahan is coming off a decidedly frustrating season. Limited to 25 games, he did not have much opportunity to showcase himself, in the last year of his contract.

The end of the calendar deprived him of a return to the game, he who treated injuries to the foot and then to the groin. He now wants to dedicate his summer to getting fully back in shape.

An unrestricted free agent starting July 1, the forward has made it clear that a return to the Habs is very possible for him.

“I haven’t played enough games at the Bell Centre,” he said Friday during the club’s end-of-season review.

In his eyes, the team will be competitive over the next few years. He says he has already made some long-term friendships, despite his shortened stint in training.

The former Calgary Flames, acquired by CH last summer, has amassed 17 points in 25 games in the blue-white-red uniform.
