(Montreal) Singer-songwriter Paul Piché will be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame on May 7.

The 69-year-old artist will be inducted with the participation of Julie Snyder, Pierre Kwenders, Ingrid St-Pierre and Stéphanie St-Jean.

The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) event will take place at La Tohu in Montreal.

During his more than 45-year career, Paul Piché has composed essential songs in the Quebec repertoire, including Happy Spring, The Staircase and Un château de sable.

His last album of original songs, On This Side of the Earth, dates back to 2009.

Paul Piché is currently on tour in Quebec to commemorate the 35th anniversary of his famous album On the way to the fires, released in 1988.
