The list of crippled players continues to grow as Canada approaches France’s women’s soccer friendly at Le Mans on Tuesday.

Soccer Canada has reported that defender Kadeisha Buchanan is back with Chelsea, her club in England, to undergo a battery of further tests regarding an injury she suffered before the start of the Canadian camp. The nature of the injury is unknown at this time.

The 27-year-old is a mainstay of Canada’s defense with 131 career caps.

The Maple Leaf representatives, sixth in the world, are already without Janine Beckie, Deanne Rose, Nichelle Prince, Desiree Scott and Quinn, who prefers to use only her last name.

Beckie will miss the Women’s World Cup after undergoing knee surgery, but coach Bev Priestman hopes her other charges will be ready for when the World Cup kicks off on July 20 in Australia and in New Zealand.

Rose and Prince are each recovering from an Achilles tendon injury, while Scott suffered an injury towards the end of the 2022 season that required surgery. Quinn suffers from a leg injury.

Defender Shelina Zadorsky is recovering from illness, and Priestman has opted out of the Canadian side.
