Can the back-to-school bonus and back-to-school allowance be combined?

The start of the new school year is fast approaching and your children, or grandchildren, will soon be heading back to school. School supplies, registration for activities, new sportswear… This time of year can be very expensive for households.

Thus, a back-to-school allowance (ARS) is paid all at once in August subject to N-2 annual resources to all families with school-going children aged 6 to 18.

The amount varies according to the age of your child. Thus, it is 392.05 euros per child aged 6 to 10, 413.69 euros per child aged 11 to 14, and 428.02 euros per child aged 15 to 18. To benefit from the back-to-school allowance, your child must be of the required age before the 1st January following the start of the school year.

To benefit from the back-to-school allowance, your income must not move certain ceilings as follows:

Note, as the official website of the Family Allowance Fund indicates, “if your resources slightly exceed the ceilings, a differential back-to-school allowance may be paid to you. It is calculated according to your income”.

This year, exceptionally, new aid will be awarded at the start of the school year…

This is the exceptional back-to-school bonus, created as part of the purchasing power project. It amounts to 100 euros and an additional 50 euros per child, regardless of their age.

This concerns beneficiaries of social minima such as the active solidarity income (RSA), the specific allowance for the elderly (Aspa) or the allowance for disabled adults (AAH), but also recipients of personalized housing and the activity bonus, and scholarship students.

The resources of the beneficiaries are not taken into account.

Can this exceptional aid be combined with the back-to-school allowance?

People who benefit from the back-to-school allowance are also eligible for the exceptional back-to-school bonus, provided they meet the conditions mentioned above. Indeed, this bonus will only be paid this year, in order to limit the effects of inflation on the portfolio of French women and men.

This exceptional bonus will be paid automatically by the Caf, the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA), the pension fund or the Crous: you do not have to take any action. You should receive it from September 15.
