Bulls’ LaVine was allowed to participate in All-Star festivities

Zach LaVine is medically cleared to take part in All-Star celebrations this weekend in Cleveland. He will then return to the Chicago Bulls lineup after the break.

Coach Billy Donovan announced Wednesday that LaVine was given the okay after having his left leg drained and a lubricant in Los Angeles. After 48 hours, he can resume his activities.

Donovan stated that right now, the doctors are happy for Zach to resume playing. “I believe Zach felt very, very positive about the meeting. It was based on some interventions and some of their actions during his visit to the doctor.”

LaVine might not be able to participate in Cleveland based on the decisions of Los Angeles doctors and team medical personnel.

Donovan stated that Zach doesn’t have any expectations to go to All-Star games and play 30 minutes. It’s certainly a great honor for Zach.

LaVine was chosen for his second All-Star Game, when the reserves were announced February 3. LaVine is also scheduled to take part in the 3-point contest.

LaVine was unable to attend Wednesday’s Chicago-Sacramento game, his third consecutive loss. Atlanta hosts the Bulls on Feb. 24.

LaVine, who averages 24.6 points per game, has been a major contributor to Chicago’s rise. With a record of 37-21 and four consecutive wins, the Bulls tied Miami for the Eastern Conference lead. Wednesday’s game saw them tie it.

Minnesota selected LaVine with the No. 13 selection in the 2014 draft. In June 2017, he was traded to Chicago.

LaVine was injured in the left knee at Detroit’s loss, which ended his season as a Minnesota Viking. On February 14, 2017, Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed surgery to repair his ACL in Los Angeles.

Donovan stated that Alex Caruso should be able to start shooting and dribbling in about a week to ten days. After being taken down by Grayson Allen in Milwaukee on Jan. 21, the veteran guard is still recovering from surgery to fix a fractured right wrist.
