(Laval) Kim Clavel took the time to settle her loss to Yesica Nery Plata while enjoying a well-deserved vacation. Now is the time to get back on the path to a world championship.

Clavel (16-1, 3 KOs) will return to the Place Bell ring on April 28 to face Mexican Naomi Arellano Reyez (9-2, 5 KOs).

In order to speed up the journey towards a world championship, Groupe Yvon Michel has ensured that belts are at stake. Thus, the two pugilists will face off for the vacant International belt of the World Boxing Council (WBC).

GYM has also obtained verbal agreements from the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) for the intercontinental titles of these two organizations. Confirmations should follow shortly.

“These belts will serve to position Kim for a world championship,” said Yvon Michel, his promoter. None are going to give Kim a free shot at a belt. »

Clavel lost a unanimous decision to Nery Plata on January 13, relinquishing his WBC light flyweight title.

“I took a long vacation to empty my mind, said the one who went into exile for a month in Panama and Costa Rica. This fight will prepare me to become world champion again. »

Clavel still has not reviewed his fight against Nery Plata.

“Danielle [Bouchard, his trainer] and I have agreed to watch it together, but I don’t know if it will be before or after the fight against Arellano Reyes. »

However, she knows what went wrong on her last outing.

“I know what I’ve done right and wrong,” she admitted. We will prepare accordingly. »

The 28-year-old Arellano Reyes got her biggest win when she beat ex-multiple world champion Carina Moreno (25-7-0, 6 KOs) in 2020. In her last out last October, Reyez lost by decision to Gabriela Fundura (8-0-0, 4 KOs) for the WBC Latino flyweight title.

Clavel and Arellano Reyes were to face each other in August 2021, at the IGA stadium, but the latter had to forfeit because of the health restrictions in force to return to Canada. She was replaced by Maria Vargas.
