Kim Clavel’s fight scheduled for April 28 at Place Bell must be postponed. It will finally take place on May 12, the Yvon Michel Group announced on Tuesday.

It was the Laval Rocket’s playoff participation that “made the availability of the scheduled date uncertain,” explains Yvon Michel. There is, however, no “possibility of conflict” with the new date, he said.

Remember that the Laval Rocket, if they win their best of three against the Utica Comets, will have to face the Toronto Marlies in the second round. This is where there could have been a scheduling conflict.

This fight will be Clavel’s first since her painful defeat at the hands of the Mexican Yesica Nery Plata, last January. She had to give up her hard-won WBC world champion title in July 2022.

On May 12, she will face Mexican Naomi “La Chapita” Arellano Reyez in an event called “Reconquest”. If she wins, she will position herself favorably for an upcoming world championship fight.

“I got pushed down the mountain, now I’m going to climb it,” the 32-year-old said at a press conference in mid-March.
