The cartoonist Cab won the Bédélys Québec prize on Thursday, awarded to the best Quebec comic published by a local publisher for her album Uptown (New address).

The second installment of the very comical series If we were… (Front Froid) earned its author, Axelle Lenoir, the Bédélys jeunesse Québec prize.

For a rare time, the Bédélys rewarded a majority of works created by women: Mieke Versyp and Sabien Clement won the Bédélys étranger for Peau (published by Çà et là) and Niki Smith the Bédélys jeunesse for L’espace d’ a moment (Rue de Sèvres).

Comic book creators largely dominated the list of finalists unveiled in March.
