(Barcelona) Stefanos Tsitsipas kicked off his Barcelona Open with an easy 6-4, 6-2 victory over Pedro Cachin, setting the stage for a clash against Canadian Denis Shapovalov in the next round.

Tsitsipas, a Barcelona runner-up in 2018 and 2021, didn’t face a single break point while converting all three offered to him by the 69th-ranked Argentine in the world.

Second seed, Tsitsipas will face Denis Shapovalov. The Ontarian defeated Jozef Kovalik 6-4, 6-3 earlier.

Ranked fourth, Jannik Sinner showed the exit to Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 6-4, his 25th win of the season on the ATP Tour.

Sinner reached the semifinals in Indian Wells and the final in Miami. He also reached the semi-finals in Monte-Carlo, the first clay-court tournament of the season.

The eighth seed will face Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka, who beat David Goffin 6-1, 7-5, in the next round.

Sixth-seeded Karen Khachanov defeated Nicolas Jarry 6-4, 6-4, while seventh-seeded Briton Cameron Norrie mocked qualifier Pavel Kotov 6-1, 6-2. No. 8 Australian Alex de Minaur eventually took down Alexander Shevchenko 6-0, 6-1.
