The end of the school year rhymes with the first big departures on vacation. On this occasion, the Centrepresse.fr newspaper has compiled a list of recommendations to take before leaving.

It is not at the last moment that you should think about renewing your bank card because the operation takes a few days. Note that it is not possible to receive your credit card at your vacation spot. This can be collected at the branch or sent to your home.

Planning to spend more than usual on your vacation? Do not neglect checking your withdrawal limit by asking your bank to increase it if necessary. Check the conditions for withdrawal limits abroad as they may be different from the limits in France.

There is as much insurance as there is a type of credit card. Check with your adviser on the guarantees covered by yours, especially regarding trip cancellations, repatriations and vehicle rental.

To avoid the unpleasant surprise of your bank card being blocked, it is better to inform your bank of your departure abroad. To limit fraud, banks regularly block transactions from certain destinations.

Abroad, the legislation is not the same as in France, it is important to know the rules in force in the country visited.

All countries are not equal in terms of means of payment. Although it seems unlikely, check that the destination you are traveling to accepts credit cards, as some destinations have cash preferences.

Tip: To get currency from another country without commission fees, contact your bank. This must be done in advance as your agency must order the currency.

Opt for substantial withdrawals because international commission fees are applied to each of your withdrawals.

You must declare to customs all sums in cash or in check, equal to or greater than €10,000, even in the euro zone.

Please note that this sum of €10,0000 must be declared if it is carried by a couple, a family or a community of interest.

In case of loss, an immediate opposition must be made to the bank. Access is simplified on your personal space or make sure you have the telephone number dedicated to oppositions abroad.

In the event of theft abroad, contact your consulate or local authorities.
