The Montreal Alouettes have been able to confirm in recent weeks the return of several of their key players. However, they will probably have to do without star receiver Austin Mack.

The latter announced on X that he had reached an agreement with the Atlanta Falcons. The Alouettes confirmed the news by relaying the post on social media, topped with “Congratulations, Austin! Thank you for everything you have done for us in 2023.”

A message from the Alouettes full of common sense. The 26-year-old had 78 receptions for 1,154 yards and 4 touchdowns last season for Montreal. He also played a key role in the Alouettes’ offense in the playoffs, with 13 receptions for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 104-yard performance in the Gray Cup victory against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Mack will not be making his first stint in the NFL. He played 11 games for the New York Giants in 2020, recording 7 catches for 91 yards. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder was released by the Giants in 2021 after being placed on injured reserve. He subsequently joined the Tennessee Titans practice squad, then participated in the San Francisco 49ers camp in 2022.
