The WNBA and NBA Boards of Governors unanimously approved the purchase of the Atlanta Fantasy to Larry Gottesdiener, Chairman of industry-leading domestic property company Northland, on Friday.

The three-member investor group is comprised of former Fantasy celebrity Renee Montgomery, Northland President and Chief Operating Officer Suzanne Abair, and Gottesdiener.

Montgomery is going to be the first former player to become both an executive and owner of a WNBA team. Montgomery sat from the 2020 year to concentrate on social justice issues and recently announced her retirement in the league after 11 seasons.

“Breaking barriers for minorities and women by being the first former WNBA player to have a stake in possession and a leadership role with the group is a chance that I take quite seriously. I ask that you join me since the Dream builds momentum in Atlanta!”
