The destination, the suitcase, the plane ticket… You had planned everything for your summer vacation, only here it is: the weather is one of the few elements that you cannot control when it comes time to escape. . While it’s hard to get a tan when the skies are gray, you might be tempted to take a dip in the sea or swim a few lengths in the hotel pool, come rain or shine. Is it dangerous to swim when the wind is blowing, when the storm is raging or when the rain is falling?

As Le Figaro reminds us, water is particularly conductive. It is therefore strongly recommended not to swim and to stay away from the water when thunder is rumbling, the risks being increased tenfold when the water is salty. On the other hand, swimming in the rain, without a storm, does not constitute any particular danger. Just be careful not to be too much in your thoughts to stay alert and be ready to act at all times.

If you are already in the water when the first lightning lights up the sky, get out of the water without haste and stay away from other people and metal objects such as pool barriers or umbrellas planted in the sand. At the first claps of thunder, take refuge in a building or in your car, and do not wait to feel the first drops of rain or the wind which rises on your face.

As for the wind, trust the bathing flags as well as the recommendations of the lifeguards.
