Anti-inflation basket: the supermarkets to choose according to your needs

To offset the inflation of food products for a year, the government planned to create an anti-inflation basket in supermarkets. However, discussions between large retailers and their suppliers having been unsuccessful, this basket has been removed. As a replacement, the Minister of Economy proposes an anti-inflation quarter. This quarter started on March 15, 2023 to limit price escalation on selected products.

This quarter, ended on June 15, 2023, is supposed to encourage supermarkets to launch their own anti-inflation basket to allow the French to continue shopping at affordable prices. The FranceInfo basket, made up of 37 first-price products from the daily newspaper, announced the price of 105.25 euros for the entire shopping basket in February 2023. This represents an increase of 16.58% over a period of one year. Since then, several brands have cooperated by offering their basket. Find out in our slideshow below which best suits your needs.

The latest to launch its anti-inflation basket is none other than the Leclerc supermarket. It succeeds Auchan, or even Carrefour. However, each supermarket offers a different selection of products. For example, Lidl does not offer a wide choice, but decides to offer a different one every week. Despite these initiatives, UFC-Que Choisir criticizes the proposed anti-inflation baskets.

Indeed, the association indicates in particular that the distributors increased these prices before freezing them. Moreover, the publication is particularly aimed at Auchan, which would seek to favor its own brand products for the anti-inflation basket.

To find your way among all these selections, we have listed for you the brands that you should favor according to your food preferences. This list is based on the study carried out by Dauvers editions of the baskets offered on March 21, 2023.

Find out in our slideshow below which store to choose.
