The Laval Rocket game was halted due to a tornado threat in the town of Rockford, Illinois on Friday night.

Barely ten minutes into the game between the Rocket and the Rockford IceHogs when attendees at BMO Harris Bank Center were notified of an “emergency weather warning” on the giant screen. The Laval organization shared an image of the warning on its Twitter account.

“Please vacate the seats in the amphitheater. Follow the instructions given to you by BMO Center staff members,” it read.

According to official Rocket handler Anthony Marcotte, fans were placed in the stairwells, “the safest place in the amphitheater,” he wrote. “It’s not a very pleasant feeling I would tell you. I am not with the rest of the team and I followed the guidelines by accompanying the fans. We are being taken care of now. »

“First observation, people are used to this kind of threat. No one is in shock right now around me. It is said that the Midwest can be conducive to this kind of weather phenomenon at this time of year. »

The match finally resumed about 40 minutes later.
