Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension: how much does it cost to redeem points?

To obtain a full pension, you have the obligation to accumulate a specific number of quarters. In this context, it is possible to buy back quarters when some are missing. For your supplementary pension, the same system applies, but it is based on points that must be contributed throughout your career. Do you have the possibility of redeeming points if necessary and what is the amount of this redemption?

Supplementary pension plans work by points: unlike the basic plan which is built on quarters to contribute, here, it is necessary to accumulate a determined number of points. A redemption of retirement points is, as for the quarters, possible under certain conditions. This purchase is therefore possible for the years of higher education and the incomplete years. However, it is necessary to have already redeemed quarters for the basic pension before being able to redeem points for your supplementary pension.

When redeeming points for your supplementary pension, it is not possible to exceed 35 Agirc-Arrco points per quarter redeemed. This redemption is also limited to three years of study. The redemption amount is calculated based on the number of points redeemed, which is multiplied by the value of the point and the age-related coefficient. The closer you get to retirement age, the higher this coefficient. It is therefore advisable to make this redemption as soon as possible. For example, in 2023, the Agirc-Arrco point amounts to 1.3498 euros.
