(Altenmarkt-Zauchensee) Cornelia Hütter gave Austria its first victory of the season on the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup circuit by winning a super-G held in her country on Friday.
Usually powerful, the Austrians have struggled so far this season. Hütter finally brought home a first place in the 17th race, after securing the team’s only second place, at the super-G in St. Moritz last month.
Her perfect skiing in the final section allowed her to clock a time of one minute 13.17 seconds and beat Norwegian Kajsa Vickhoff Lie by nine hundredths of a second.
Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami took third place, 21 hundredths of a second behind the winner.
Six days after her triumph at the Kranjska Gora giant slalom, Franco-Ontarian Valérie Grenier finished in 11th place, with a time of 1:14.21.
The only other Canadian registered, Britt Richardson (1: 16.58) placed 49th.
