(Commerce City) American forward Djordje Mihailovic joined MLS’s Colorado Rapids on Monday after scoring just one goal in 23 appearances for AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch league.

The 25-year-old, who played for two seasons with CF Montreal before transferring to AZ Alkmaar in 2022, has agreed to a four-year contract that includes a team option for 2028. He will be a player designated who will only partially count towards the salary cap.

Mihailovic scored seven goals in 73 regular season games with the Chicago Fire from 2017 to 2020, and 13 goals in 61 games with the Montreal team in 2021 and 2022.

He joined AZ on January 1 last year and scored his only league goal against the Go Ahead Eagles on January 25.

Mihailovic’s only other goal for the club came against Santa Coloma of Andorra in the third round of the Europa Conference League qualifiers on 10 August.

Mihailovic has scored three goals in 11 international matches, including two against Saint Kitts and Nevis last June in the Concacaf Gold Cup.
