Montrealer Allison Russell is once again on Barack Obama’s list of favorite songs of the year. The former American president listened to The Returner, the eponymous song from his latest album, on repeat.

This is the second time that the musician has earned a place on the former president’s famous list. She charmed him in 2021 with her piece Nightflyer, taken from her first album.

Every year, Barack Obama publishes on social networks the list of songs which constituted the soundtrack of his last months. Among them: My Love Mine All Mine by Mitski, America Has a Problem by Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar, Road to Freedom by Lenny Kravitz and On My Mama by Victoria Monét.

On Thursday, the former president unveiled the list of his favorite films of the year, which included two Canadian films, BlackBerry and Past Lives.
