(Alta Badia) The Swiss Marco Odermatt, winner on Sunday of the first giant slalom of Alta Badia, dominated the first round of the second giant scheduled in the Italian resort of the Dolomites on Monday.

Odermatt, who has three successes on the Gran Risa track and has a total of 26 victories on the world circuit since Sunday, is ahead of the Croatian Filip Zubcic by 87/100th and the Austrian Marco Schwarz by 95/100th.

This is the same provisional podium as Sunday, but with a significantly greater lead in favor of Odermatt, who was ahead of Zubcic and Schwarz by 31 and 36/100 after the first route.

The 26-year-old Swiss, winner of the last two editions of the World Cup and leader of the general classification, is the undisputed king of giant slalom.

Olympic and world champion in the specialty, he has won the last five World Cup giants, equaling the series of legends Marcel Hirscher and Ingemar Stenmark, and can therefore set a new record in the event of success after the second round including the start will be given at 1:30 p.m.

The Frenchman Alexis Pinturault set the fifth time of this first round, with a significant delay of 1 sec 49/100th.

The Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen, 2019 world champion in the specialty, is already relegated to just two seconds, a delay synonymous with 7th place.

A new sensation in the specialty, the Andorran Joan Verdu, 3rd in Val d’Isère at the beginning of December and 5th at Alta Badia on Sunday, made a mistake on a course designed by his trainer and was forced to retire.
