(Chicago) Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson announced Saturday that forward Corey Perry will be absent from the team for an indefinite period.

Perry, 38, has not played since Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. He was left out Wednesday and Friday.

“It’s been a team decision so far to leave him out, and that’s about all I can say,” Davidson said.

Perry was acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning in June before signing a one-year, $4 million contract with the Blackhawks.

Perry has four goals and five assists in 16 games this season. Asked about the possibility of a trade, Davidson said it was “irresponsible to start ruling anything out,” so he would avoid comment at this time.

Pat Morris, Perry’s agent, said his player was stepping away from the team for personal reasons. Morris said Perry and his family ask for their privacy.
